HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) and Rep. Jesse Topper (R- Bedford/Franklin/Fulton) today announced the scheduling of a joint hearing by the House Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Education, chaired by Mihalek, and the House Education Committee Subcommittee on Higher Education, chaired by Topper, to review higher education funding in Pennsylvania.
HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) announced that the 2021-22 budget has passed the House of Representatives. There is a total spend of $39.78 billion in general fund dollars and $1.04 billion in federal relief funds that support the Commonwealth’s fiscal future, education, police forces, infrastructure, elections, communities and most vulnerable populations. The budget includes no new taxes and no new fees.

The package is designed to ensure that victims feel safe and supported after a traumatic experience, and that the criminal justice system is equipped to increase public safety outcomes.

HARRISBURG – The House of Representatives has passed Rep. Natalie Mihalek’s (R-Allegheny/Washington) bill to protect victims of human trafficking. House Bill 246 amends the human trafficking statute to prohibit defendants from introducing evidence of a human trafficking victim’s past sexual victimization and allegations of past sexual victimization.
HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) has been appointed to serve as chairman of the Select Committee on the Publication of Constitutional Amendments. This committee will complete a study of how constitutional amendments in the Commonwealth are advertised.
ALLEGHENY – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) announced that Allegheny County was awarded a Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) grant in the amount of $150,000. The Miracle League of the South Hills Inc. requested a Greenways, Trails and Recreation fund grant to improve an existing baseball field in Upper St. Clair Township. The grant will be used for concession stand construction.
BRIDGEVILLE – A group of members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly met today with local police who voiced concerns about safety if the Interstate 79 bridge near the Bridgeville exit in Allegheny County is tolled.
