HARRISBURG – State Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny) announced today that she has been appointed to serve on the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Courts for the 2019-20 Legislative Session.
The subcommittee investigates issues and holds public hearings relating to the operation of Pennsylvania’s court system.
“With my experience as an attorney and working with the criminal justice system, I am excited to be a part of this subcommittee,” Mihalek said. “This subcommittee will look to help ensure that our courts have the resources they need to serve the interests of justice as efficiently and effectively as possible.”
Additionally, the subcommittee will play a role in investigating possible crimes or abuse of power by public officials, in order to see if impeachment, which is determined by the House Judiciary Committee, is appropriate or not.
In addition to serving on the Judiciary Committee, Mihalek also serves on the House Children and Youth, Human Services, Liquor Control, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees. Mihalek was also recently appointed to serve as Deputy Chairman of the House Policy Committee.
