HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) announced today that four fire and ambulance companies within the 40th District will share more than $50,000 in state grant funding.
“This is great news for our district,” said Mihalek. “Our first responders work tirelessly to ensure that our communities stay safe and protected. I am hopeful that our local fire and ambulance companies can use this funding to get the resources and equipment they need.”
The following is a list of the local fire and ambulance companies within the 40th District that received the funding:
Allegheny County
• Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company - $14,811.36.
• Upper St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department Inc. - $13,821.77.
Washington County
• Memorial Park Post No. 764 VFW Ambulance Service - $7,155.22.
• Peters Township Volunteer Company No. 1 - $14,811.36.
The exact amount that the all-volunteer companies in the 40th District received for 2018-19 program year is $50,599.71.
The funding can be used to renovate or construct a fire or ambulance company facility, repair or purchase new equipment, train or reduce existing debt.
All grants are funded by slot machine proceeds and not tax money.
Fire and ambulance companies are reminded that in order to receive their grants and retain their eligibility for the program, paperwork must be submitted back to the Office of Fire Commissioner by the end of May.
