Mihalek Named to Five House Committees
January 22, 2019
Plans to put her life experience to work
HARRISBURG – The House Republican Caucus announced its committee assignments this week, naming freshman member, Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington), to five committees for the 2019-20 Legislative Session.
“House leaders named me to the House Judiciary, Children and Youth, Human Services, Liquor Control, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees,” said Mihalek. “I am thrilled with these appointments. The committees are very active, and they review and advance a significant amount of substantive legislation.
“As an attorney, who served in the Allegheny County Office of the District Attorney, I am particularly excited that House leaders named me to the Judiciary Committee where I can put my career experience to work,” said Mihalek. “A veteran of the U.S. Navy, I will also use my military experience to work on legislation that will improve the lives of veterans and their families.
“The House Children and Youth and Human Services committees address issues that impact our most vulnerable citizens – children, the elderly, the poor and those with physical or intellectual disabilities. In the Allegheny County Office of the District Attorney, I worked with many of these individuals, including victims of crime. Together with local police, I fought for justice, prosecuting criminal cases and putting violent offenders behind bars. I plan to use my experience to strengthen our laws and improve our communities,” she said.
