Mihalek: It’s Time for Majority Party Leaders, Shapiro to Act on Budget
July 10, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) issued the below statement, calling on House majority party leaders and Gov. Josh Shapiro to take action on Pennsylvania’s late budget:
“Because the state budget is late more often than it is on time, some folks in Harrisburg would say today is not July 10, it’s June 40. But a late budget is no laughing matter.
“As stewards of taxpayer dollars, it is our duty to craft an on-time budget that works for the people of Pennsylvania.
“The residents of the 40th district sent me to Harrisburg to be an advocate for our region and to make policies that serve our Commonwealth without overspending and putting future generations on the hook for irresponsible fiscal decisions. Those will always be my top priorities.
“Unfortunately, the priority of the majority party is to play political games. Negotiations have been stalled for weeks, yet session days continue to be added so the House can vote on bills that have zero chance in the Senate, yet a very high probability of turning into political fodder being texted out to residents who are beyond frustrated with these games.
“It is time for Gov. Shapiro and the House Democrats to act like adults and get a responsible budget passed for this Commonwealth instead of acting like children without any structure to their summer.”
