HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) announced two state grants have been awarded to local communities.

The Municipality of Bethel Park was awarded $750,000 to renovate the existing Park Avenue baseball and football fields. The existing baseball field will be removed, while turfing will be added to the existing football field. In addition, a new splash pad, playground, grandstands and bathroom will be added.

“Bethel Park has been trying to obtain this funding for years. With this grant, they can finally get started on much-needed improvements,” said Mihalek. “I’m really excited for the community and the people who have worked so hard to make this happen.”

The Township of Upper St. Clair was awarded $250,000. This money will go toward renovating the library to address issues of accessibility, restroom facilities, security, lack of study/meeting space and more.

“I love to see money being put into the library,” Mihalek continued. “It’s such a valuable resource in any community and I hope to see it being used as much as possible in the coming years.”
