HARRISBURG – Residents of Upper St. Clair Township can look forward to some improvements and renovations at the Northern Tier Regional Library – Upper St. Clair, according to Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington).
The Township of Upper St. Clair was awarded $750,000 to reconfigure and increase library space at its facility located at
1820 McLaughlin Run Road.
“I am pleased to see local and state governments working together,” said Mihalek. “The project will help to promote continuous improvements in library services to better aid our residents.”
The Department of Education (PDE) announced that $5.1 million in Keystone Grants were awarded to 18 libraries for the construction and rehabilitation of public library facilities. The award recipients were selected through a competitive grant process. The Keystone grants will aid public library facilities in installing equipment and upgrading security systems.
“A library is a wonderful place for children and adults to go read a good book, ask questions and look for answers while in a quiet atmosphere,” said Mihalek. “I am happy to see this library receive assistance to make improvements and continue operations. Funding is vital to keep and maintain community libraries in Pennsylvania.”
The Office of Commonwealth Libraries (OCL) within PDE operates a major research library and collects, preserves and connects state government, libraries, and all residents with the information and resources needed for education, enrichment and advancement.
