Mihalek Announces $1.3 Million for Bethel Park Borough Stormwater Project
4/17/2019
HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) announced today that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has awarded a low-interest loan of $1,367,000 to the Bethel Park Borough.

PENNVEST awarded the loan to the borough to install underground detention tank and rain gardens, reconstruct a flow splitting structure and expand retention ponds.

The project will address the hazards associated with insufficient control of storm water flows causing flooding in residential areas and runoff of pollutants into the nearby unnamed tributary to Greaser's Run.

“I am very pleased that the Bethel Park Borough has received this loan,” said Mihalek. “This is great news for the borough as it works diligently to resolve these issues of flooding and the runoff of pollutants.”

The funding for PENNVEST comes from a combination of state funds approved by voters, Growing Greener, Marcellus Legacy funds, federal grants to PENNVEST from the Environmental Protection Agency and recycled loan repayments from previous PENNVEST funding awards. Funds for these projects are disbursed after expenses for work are paid and receipts are submitted to PENNVEST for review.
