Mihalek: Budget Prioritizes Fiscal Restraint
HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) issued the below statement following the passage of legislation to finalize the 2022-23 budget:
“This budget cycle has several wins for taxpayers because it continues Pennsylvania on a path of fiscal responsibility and controls spending, while still prioritizing state government’s core functions such as education, public safety and mental health programs.
“Supporting and protecting our must vulnerable populations remained an important part of negotiations. Early intervention programs, assisted living facilities and violence prevention programs will see additional funding, as well as an additional 800 Pennsylvanians with intellectual disabilities will be moved off of waiting lists and into services.
“These investments occur without raising taxes and in fact, this budget carries $3.6 billion into future budget cycles, helping to avoid future tax increases. The best Pennsylvania can do right now is to keep government spending in check and position itself for growth to be ready when the economy improves. This budget plan does just that.”
