Mihalek Sworn In to Serve Second Term in House of Representatives
1/5/2021
HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) has been sworn in to serve her second term in the House of Representatives. Mihalek issued the following statement:

“Today, I was sworn into the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for my second term representing the 40th Legislative District. Today’s session came without the traditional pomp and circumstance of swearing-in day, and instead carried a serious and somber tone given all that our Commonwealth has endured this past year. While the ceremony lacked the novelty and pure excitement as it had for me just two short years ago, my resolve remains firm and unfettered. I will continue to serve my community with dignity, professionalism and by communicating in a way that unites rather than divides.

“I chose to be sworn in on ‘My First Bible,’ the one I had from as long ago as I can remember to remind myself that I am still just that little girl who always wanted to help people. The Pennsylvania Constitution gives the General Assembly its duty to legislate, and that is what I will continue to do to make the Commonwealth better for all of us.

“I have been drafting a series of bills over the past several weeks centered on crime victims and ways that we can improve our laws to ease their burden. I will be reintroducing my bill to provide financial assistance to human service nonprofits that have been especially busy during these trying times, but left with little ability to fundraise. I will also be working with a group of colleagues to reintroduce a package of bills aimed at getting Pennsylvania ahead of the game when it comes to economic recovery. I look forward to a new partnership with our recently elected senator in the 37th District on veterans issues and economic issues important to our region.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the community that I love. And I am eager to work toward achieving the many legislative goals that lie ahead. I will continue to strive for results over rhetoric and look forward to a productive 2021.”
