Mihalek Announces Safe School Grant for Upper St. Clair School District
HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) today announced that the Upper St. Clair School District has been awarded funding from the Safe Schools Targeted Grants program.

The district will receive a $17,307 program grant. The grant was awarded by the School Safety and Security Committee within the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) as part of the School Safety and Security Grant Program, which was created by lawmakers in 2018.

“This is an important program that helps our schools improve safety by funding additional staff and safety equipment, all to create a safer environment for our kids and our teachers,” said Mihalek. “Parents and students deserve the peace of mind that is essential to having an optimal learning experience.”

Safe Schools Program grants fund a variety of different projects, including hiring school security officers, purchasing security-related technology, completing safety and security assessments, implementing violence prevention curricula, offering counseling services for students, and creating other programs to protect students.

“School safety is of vital importance,” said Mihalek. “I’m pleased that the Upper St. Clair School District can invest this money to make their schools a safer place to learn.”
