Upper St. Clair School District Receives School Safety Grant, Mihalek Announces
MCMURRAY – Today, Rep. Natalie Mihalek (R-Allegheny/Washington) announced that Upper St. Clair School District was awarded a total of $43,020 in School Safety Grants through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
“I am pleased to announce that the school district of Upper St. Clair has received this grant funding,” said Mihalek. “As a parent and legislator, it’s important to me that we are doing everything in our power to keep our students safe and secure. This grant will provide school leaders with better options when determining which safety tools work best for the protection of our students, faculty and staff.”
Upper St. Clair School District received a $24,720 grant for equipment and an $18,300 grant for prevention programs, totaling $43,020.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office for Safe Schools offers four types of Safe Schools Targeted Grants: program grants to prevent and reduce violent incidents, equipment grants to purchase safety and security-related equipment, School Police Officer (SPO) grants, and School Resource Officer (SRO) grants to provide for staff training and compensation.
Each of the grants aims to assist schools in reducing unnecessary student disciplinary actions and promoting an environment of greater productivity, safety and learning.
